Every year around the August / September time, there are a few social media posts that I created that went viral. First, it’s Ivy and Zo standing in the backyard, and I’m saying, “Two Boxers,” and they both look beautiful.
Then it was 2023. While we were attempting to pack up our Florida home as it was being sold, we took the pool fence down, and the two boxers took full advantage by having a 4 am pool party. We watched them for a few minutes as they were having so much fun, but when the barking craziness started, we had to drag them out of the pool and inside. Doggie door got closed. So I questioned Ivy at 7:30 am and she wasn’t interested in talking.
Soon it will be another pool video when Ivy “tried” to drown Zo Bear in 2021. BUT when I posted the video, we had a small following, and I shared it because for 2 years, Zo Bear would “try” and “save” Ivy when they would swim, though Ivy knows how to swim, and we finally trained Zo Bear to stop. BUT because TikTok pushed the video to the For You page with no prior knowledge of all the new followers, it was taken out of context.
When Tikki Tok finally pushed it to our community, everyone understood why I posted it. I even went on camera to explain the video (Which I never show my face, so you know I was overly pissed off), and then also realized videos with my voice and Jersey accent seem to go viral. This one was me being a bit loud and screechy. We were actually away at the time I posted it, and my phone kept alerting me, and Ivy and Zo’s dad said, “The video is going viral!” And I realized for all the wrong reasons. Then came all the viral videos and AFV contacting us, and the video was on MSN’s homepage in the pet collective for a few years. The dogs got on TV a few times on “Right This Minute” as well.
I’ve made a few other videos that have gone viral, but what works is me talking to the dogs, asking questions, and keeping it under 10 seconds. Between my ADHD brain and everyone else’s, seeing our two boxers’ beautiful faces is what keeps users watching and commenting! We get so many comments that I try to respond to each one because we really appreciate your engagement with us sharing the lives of Ivy and Zo Bear.
Because of all the engagement we’ve gotten on our videos, it inspired me to write a few stories about our two boxers. The latest is a Young Readers chapter book. I’m working on 2 more Young Readers stories, but I just need time to work on them. Hopefully I can have them out before the end of the year (but that’s not a promise!).
