Zo’s TPLO Surgery

Spread the love

Oh, friends, gather ’round for an update on our beloved Zo Bear! You know him, you love him – he’s the goofy, cookie-loving, swimming, cuddle-bug boxer brother to our sweet Ivy, and he’s always bringing smiles to your faces across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook!

Well, our happy-go-lucky Zo Bear recently hit a little bump in the road. Our energetic boy unfortunately tore his ACL, and he’s bravely undergone surgery to get him back to his wild and wonderful boxer self! We’re looking at about 4-6 months of recovery and rehabilitation to help him get back to his crazy, zoomie-filled ways, and we’re cheering him on every step of the way!

This whole unexpected adventure has caught us off guard, and the costs for Zo’s surgery, rehab, medicine, x-rays, and vet care are adding up. We’ve never done anything like this before, but we’re reaching out to our amazing community for a little help. If you’re able to contribute any amount, big or small, it would mean the world to us and help ease the burden of these unforeseen expenses. Every little bit truly helps! You can find our GoFundMe here: GoFundMe for Zo.

We’re so thrilled to share that Zo’s surgery was six weeks ago, and he’s been doing fantastic! At four weeks post-op, our boy is already showing his eagerness to run, jump, and play (classic boxer!). His physical therapist gives him glowing reviews, and we’re so proud of his progress. This past May 28th was a big day – he had X-rays to check on his healing leg and started his very first aqua therapy session! It’s on a treadmill, but knowing our water-loving Zo, we let his PT know not to be surprised if he tries to turn it into a swimming competition!

Right now, we’re keeping his walks short and sweet, just a few minutes at a time on a short leash. He’s also on some “calming” meds to help keep his boundless energy in check, especially since his sister Ivy is always ready for a romp! To ensure he gets the rest he needs, we’ve set up a special zone for him in the house, and with both of us working from home, we’ve got our eyes on him constantly.

Now at six weeks post-op, Zo Bear had his X-ray results in this week, and we’re eagerly awaiting the surgeon’s call for the official word on his healing progress! From what we can see, our boy is absolutely itching to run and play again, but we know patience is key for that bone to heal completely before he can unleash his inner crazy boxer with Ivy! Even with his calming meds, he’s definitely over not being able to play, giving us his famous boxer side-eye, and trying to grab his leash when we head back home after our 3-5 daily walks.

Between his puzzles, yummy chews, and bones, Zo is probably thinking, “Just let me run free already!” Sorry, Zo Bear, not yet, but soon enough you’ll be back to your wild self!

Thank you all so much for your incredible help, support, and all the good vibes you’re sending Zo’s way. It truly means the world to us!
